STC
standard template construction, it use to be every were. all building were made by it. it's what allowed man to colonize the galaxy.
"The classic example is the standardised habitation unit, that was self-contained and self-sufficient, and could be built on virtually any world regardless of local conditions to keep humans within a standard Terran environment."


what dose an STC building look like? what do you think?

plot
i have been going through the old RT book and missing the old games with plot. figured i could easily convert a few old plot points to work with the new rules. thought i might share a few ideas with you all. people should try them out and tell me what you think. maybe i'll make it a regular thing.

40k update
ug it has been awhile. the holiday season took me out fairly well this year. plus it doesn't help that many of the places i gamed have all closed. time i start looking for new shops to game at.
i got some new marines over the holidays. the new scouts and the new terminators. i have to say the new scouts pissed me off. they are form fitted so there is next to no ability to pose them any way i want. if i wanted static minis i would have gotten metal ones. there is three reason to make minis in plastic, 1:it's cheaper 2: more flexibility with the poses and 3: better detail to go with the flexibility. the scouts failed at all three. detail is no better them the metal ones. cost in no cheaper either. and they have modeled them with next to no flexibility. WTF! needles to say i'm a bit disappointed.
on the other hand the terminators we excellent. loved them. a little big but hey they're all getting bigger now a days. i'll see about getting some picks up soon.

final report
The storm roared out side of the temporary shelter as Vet Sargent Gaius Polished his armor. It was only three months ago that he first set foot on this desolate little moon but it felt like a life time. Back then he was just Trooper Gaius, funny how things change. Lightly brushing a hand over a purity seal. It was the first assault on the Wailing hills that he got it. Picking up his former Sargent's chainsword and leading what remained of his squad up hill 214. Even today he still caries that weapon. And it has served him well in this campaign, This long hard campaign. Glancing at his Battle honors he remember each as clearly as the day it happened. 1st, 2nd and 3rd assaults on the Wailing hills, 2nd Battle of the Pipeline, Ambush at Refinery 12, the Salt flats of Carpeli, the endless battle of Bloody canyon and finally the most resent, the Assault of Filling station Alpha. They had been so close to taking it. The traitorous scum knew the storms were coming, knew they would pin down any one in the open. that was why they fought so hard. one could tell they were nearly broken. just one more push would have had them, but this damned storm hit. well once it passes we shall be ready. there will be no place for them to hide. we shall be their judgement.


well after mine and myles battle yesterday i can say this campaign is over. yes there is still two battles to be fought but no matter what there outcome the VPs will stay the same.
Chaos won a major victory in the north and held off the Marines just long enough. they used up every last bit of their reserves, even pulling out strange alien technology to do so. if it wasn't for the storms it is likely the Marine could have just walked into Filling station Alpha.
down to the south the marines did a stunning job defending Filling station Beta. horrible luck fell upon the forces of chaos. they even lost a majority of their terminators when they telaported into a wall.
so as it stands the campaign is a draw by one point. very well played. i hope you all had a good time.

soooo... now we come to the part were i ask you what you all thought. i have already thought of a few changes my self, but pleas tell me of any thing you would like to see different.

final battle
Chaos has moved. playing a double time card them selves Cb has taken back 7vp. this leaves the game just with in the 5 point draw spread. it really come down to these last few battles. if either side can win a battle and push there opponent out of the refineries, they can win it. just to make it clear for every one. just because an army goes to 0ELs because of a battle dose not mean you automatically take there location. you have to win a battle to take a location.

moon 24
a major victory for the marines! ARMY m1 has broken through and scattered the chaos detachment C2. opening a hole in the chaos line. this could not come at a better time. for the moon will soon be going into it's winter cycle, during which the weather get so bad that movement on the planets surface become impossible. all ground operations will have to stop at that time.
at the other fronts the fighting continues. both side fighting on to exhaustion with little or no gain for either side.
will the victory in the north reinvigorate the marines? will they take the initiative ?

at any time. it will bring any one unit back up 4ELs. real helpful now. ^_~

Chaos: Silica Dust Storms. All battles fought this turn will have a dust storm in play. using the 40K Hazards http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/40k/gaming/hazards/default.htm Toxic Clouds: Metallic Terror to represent the dust clogging up machinery. if you have any problems with finding the rule on this let me know and i will email them to you.

well the change in leadership has reinvigorated chaos units. a full scale assault right across the moon. all armies that could engage did engage. marines you only have one army free to move, were to move it?

Battles: Remember all marine players gets 1 Orbital Bombardment.
With Chaos out for blood all missions are 1800pts, Gamma, Seek and Destroy.

Moon 24 end turn 6
The last few weeks of fighting have been bloody and telling. dissension amongst the troops of rebel marines has seen a change in leadership. as one of the warlords was brutally cut down and replaced by a new up and coming lieutenant.
heavy fighting continues near the northern refinery but is still locked in a stalemate. tho things are starting to look grim as both sides are running low on supplies. the next attack might be the telling one.
near by the Marines of army group M1 successfully fought off a chaos attack. sending the rebel forces back with heavy losses. tho even with this success things are not guarantied as all across the moon supplies are being stretched to there limit.

it looks like the marines has switched place with the hordes of chaos. lets see if they can make good there new position.

marines have moved. Ma attacked Ca and M2 captured a refinery bringing the Vps to marines 22 and chaos 37.

battles: night fight rules for all battles: well as i said before M1 and C2 should fight a 1500pts Cleanse Mission. use Gamma rules and use night fight rules.
Ca and Ma should do the same except chaos adds 1d6+2 pieces of
Razor Wire or Tank Traps. remember marines this applies to the game you fight too.

ok i'll give you all till the end of next Sunday to get back to me with your battles. any probs just let me know.

well with no response from chaos i will have to assume they didn't want to do any thing this turn. and with no combat initiated we move on to turn 6.

moon 24 turn 5
well that was interesting. looks like every battle was a draw. some more so then others but no major breakthroughs. all unit that attacked are back to were they attacked from. victory points stay the same. ELs have dropped. time for turn 5.

it's hard to believe i've kept this going for four years. i do have to say this last year has been the hardest. so few game it hurts. i need to kick myles a bit and get him going again. happy b-day paradise_sector

ok all moves have happened.

all battles should be 2000pt Gamma Secure and Control Mission with three Loot counters, but do not score points. the only thing that matters is capturing the Loot counters. whom ever holds the most wins. if you wipe out your opponent but he still has one loot and you have none he wins. this time it's not about killing it's about taking the objectives.

chaos also plays it's other Event card on Cb,
Extra Defences: pick one unit at any time. It will get 1d6+2 pieces of
Razor Wire or Tank Traps in it's next battle.
all games with Cb and M2 Chaos gets 1d6+2 pieces of
Razor Wire or Tank Traps.

moon 24
ok lets get this rolling again. Chaos has moved and it is now the marines turn to move.

1.. chaos used a reinforcements card on Cb.
2.. Cb moved one space West then one north to claim the 5 point city.
3.. C2 moved one space South then attacks M1
4.. Ca attacks Ma.
5.. C1 bounces out to claim the sector to the North then moves back to keep the Wailing Hills.
